About Me

I’m Emma Manning, a doctoral student at Georgetown University, finishing up my PhD in Computational Linguistics. In addition to teaching undergrads at Georgetown, I have experience teaching courses in Linguistics and Computer Science to 12-16 year old students at Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. It’s been a delight to introduce Linguistics to students in that age range, which inspired me to try to reach even more young minds with an online course!

I was also homeschooled K-12, and much of my own high school education took the form of asynchronous online courses. This means I know firsthand that online courses can be great when done well, and I’m excited to leverage the power of the internet to make this one excellent!
